LI-7700
Open Path CH4 Analyzer
Fast Atmospheric Methane Measurements
Designed for the Eddy Covariance Method
The open path design of the LI-7700 provides elegant solutions to many of the challenges of measuring atmospheric CH4 flux over various ecosystems, while providing excellent co-spectra.
Recent advances in laser technology and advanced engineering enabled LI-COR to develop the LI-7700 Open Path CH4 Analyzer. The LI-7700 uses a single-mode tunable near infrared laser source, operating at ambient temperature, which greatly reduces power consumption and eliminates the need for cryogenic cooling systems.
Using Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy (WMS), the laser scans across a single feature in the 2v3 absorption band of methane near 1.6 microns with high resolution and at a high repetition rate.
Low Power Consumption
Ch4 Analyzer draws normally 8W of power for use in locations without access to line power and without high CO2 emissions from generators required with other systems.
System Integration
Connections directly to sonic anemometer and LI-COR CO2/H2O analyzer to log data files for quick flux calculations in EddyPro software.
High Speed
Data output rates to 40Hz.
Self Cleaning Optics
Monitors signal strength and actively cleans lower mirror when signal decreases below a user-defined limit to keep the instrument operating with less frequent field visits.
High Precision
RMS noise is 5 ppb at 10 Hz in typical ambient CH4 concentrations (2 ppm)
No Tubing Effects
Open path design means no pumps, no tubing sorption, and no tubing delays to complicate measurements.
Field instruments require durability that bench-top instruments often lack. The LI-7700 was designed to make high quality measurements in extreme environments. Its lightweight design, low power requirement, and low maintenance operation make it ideal for demanding field deployments.
LI-COR’s scientists and engineers have collectively published and presented hundreds of posters, papers, and platform talks at scientific conferences and in scientific journals. Actively involved with the scientific community, they regularly collaborate with leading scientists around the world.
For 40 years, LI-COR has developed innovative instruments and provided scientists with new tools for cutting edge research – and we will continue to do so. LI-COR operates with sound, enduring business principles, and you can count on us to support your LI-COR instruments for years to come.
